The Even Better "KFC"

I’d like to start off by apologising for my lack of posting, but believe me the last year of university is no joke. Now, I am all submitted and awaiting my results I can adjust my focus back to this blog…

So last week Friday I had the pleasure of having a late lunch at Jin Juu, run by celebrity chef Judy Joo, with some friends. Given that we had to book the table a whole month in advance, I was anxiously excited to say the least and boy oh, boy starters have never tasted so good.

Once we arrived we were taken downstairs to the dining area. I was instantly impressed by the décor and open plan kitchen just inches from our table in particular. Before even ordering I had already begun to like Jin Juu for the visual detailing, as dining is more than just a tasting experience. The second half of the lengthy menu included a brief on the artwork (pictured below) that was created by NYC based artist, Wook Kim. Jin Juu also provide a nice laid back, chilled vibe we found as we caught up, snapchating our table as the dishes came out, dancing to the commercial house music being played.

We weren’t as hungry as usual and so we decided to share some starters. We ordered the Sae-woo Pops, Jinjuu Carnitas Fries, Pork Belly Tacos, regular French Fries and one of each of the K-Town Mini Slider Buns (Korean Fried Chicken & Bulgogi).  The Carnita fries, full of flavour layered with pulled pork, cheddar and jalapeños. Although a little spicy for me, nonetheless delicious. I had tried KFC as it sometimes known, before and wasn’t at all let down by the mini versions. The texture crispy and crunchy, with a sweet and sticky taste. A winner for all chicken lovers. The tacos were interesting and trying the asian slaw inside them were a first for me, but we all agreed that it wasn't a dish we'd necessary order again. I washed mine down with apple juice as the girls enjoyed their cocktails.

The service was very attentive and the bill came to about £20 a head. I will definitely be returning to indulge in the main side of the menu and highly recommend it for those interested in trying Korean.
