Franco Manca

It’s been a while since I shared a munch diary entry with you guys but I have finally managed to shake my writers block and I am excited to return this year with more news and reviews. So let’s get to it …

Anyone who knows me has a good understanding of my love for Italian food. Infact, it is fair to say I am indeed desperate to visit Italy an further educate myself on more than just their stunning cuisine.

That being said, I was short of disappointment when I visited Franco Manca, a Sourdough pizza joint.

Similar to 'FlatPlanet' the home like decorated space made me feel like we were in a friend's kitchen as appose to an actual restaurant and definitely played a major role in the relaxed atmosphere.

The service was both speedy and attentive. With this being our first visit after hearing so much about the chains we, decide to trust in our waitress and let her recommend our food orders, leaving me to do my favourite part of choosing the wine.

Although risky, her choices were excellent and we had no complaints starting with a dish of olives, freshly made garlic bread with cheese and a beautifully displayed plate of buffalo mozzarella served on a bed of rocket and bresaola - a free range cured meat, which was something new for me but resulted in me almost eating the wooden serving plate, it was that good!

For our mains we went with a meat special and chorizo pizza with extra mushrooms and olives, washed down with a glass of Tenute Normanno's Blanco.

As much as we had planned on trying a dessert our stomachs were defeated.

The restaurant also hosts pizza making classes, so I would definitely check that out if that's of interest to you and if not I'd recommend a visit for the sake of enjoying great pizza with a great chilled vibe really. You won't be disappointed!
