Brunch at Clutch

Decor, food and tunes!

Brunch at Clutch in three words.

I LIVE for good customer service and after years of working in retail, I really appreciate it's value. Clutch is a restaurant who sets the bar high!

So last Saturday I had a table booked at 12pm and a WhatsApp group chat full of latecomers. My CityMapper app had lead me from Hoxton underground station to the backdoor bar entrance of Clutch and to my surprise, my day full of laughs had only just started.

For those who have never heard of Clutch, they pride themselves on serving "ethically sourced rare breed poultry from Blackwells farm". As well as frying all their food in "organic ground nut oil thus giving you fried food free from cholesterol, M.S.G and nasty trans fat". These statements are printed on their menus and help establish Clutch's title as "The Home Of Guilt-Free Fried Chicken".

If you were to stop me in the street and ask me to sample some "Guilt-Free Fried Chicken" I'd probably roll my eyes and walk on by - oh how ignorance is bliss, because Clutch now has to be one of my absolute favourite places to chow down!

My aim for this visit was to try out their Boozy Brunch, (served on Saturday's 11am - 2pm and 10am - 1pm Sunday's) with my late friends (yes shade) but found I had to practically drag myself out to leave.

Clutch felt like a summertime BBQ with bottomless drinks.

Containing my top three qualities (beside the food, obviously);
  1. Good customer service (major key, if I haven't preached enough)
  2. Photo worthy decor
  3. Fab music choice

Decked out out in a mix of bright yellow, black and white, the room illuminates chic with gold mirrored dining tables, bold striped floors and subtly played current tunes - Clutch can't help but capture your attention from the start!

I started off with a Queen Bey cocktail, which definitely tickled my fancy.

Myself and my friend Gladys ordered the La Fleche French Toast, Buttermilk Fried Boneless Chicken Thigh on French Toasted Brioche with Smoked Turkey Bacon and Homemade Bourbon Syrup - pictured. A first time for me trying turkey bacon, which absolutes "bangs!" - as some of my pals would say and I recommend trying it if you, like me, haven't before. Check out the menu here
My other friend Zoe, ordered some Spicy Chilli Wings alongside a portion of chips which was spicy for me but seemed just right for her.

I want to keep this review very short, simple and as always honest: partly because we ended up leaving VERY merrily (hence the lack of food photos, shameful I know!) courtesy of our bottomless Prosecco punch which was a mix of Prosecco, Vodka and Elderflower cordial (if I remember correctly - eek!) and secondly because I plan on returning with even more mates for another fantastic time, with even more stomach room to try the rest of their dishes.

Don't take my word for it and go visit Clutch yourself.

Warning, this review contains the heavy use of exclamation marks cause I need ya'll, to REALLY hear me when I say I enjoyed!

Vibe - The music played made up at least 90% of my phone playlist, relaxed decor and dress code.
Munch - Pure delightful and filling.
Triple R - Affordable food, great taste, I would both recommend and return especially now I've signed up to their mailing list. #noAd
Making my Total Rating Score - 5/5
